Gordon and his wife and fellow camp director, Natasha, inspire children to participate in team building, conservation and sporting activities. They also strive to make the children more independent. His advice: There is no specific age for overnight camp; it's when they are ready. Some are ready at age 7, some at 10, some at 12. Different camps have different cell phone policies, which can be a classic setup for failure. If there are no cell phones allowed, make sure that the child knows that and agrees to it.
